Am I Eligible?

Our current focus is assisting high school seniors in the South King County area located in Washington State. We hope to expand our program in the near future.

  • Students must provide verification of eligibility to participate in graduation.

  • Student must be eligible for one of the following:

    • Free and reduced lunch program

    • Have an IEP / 504 plan

    • Have a legal guardian that is active duty military

    • Experiencing homelessness

  • We require the school counselor, social worker, or community case manager to sign the application.

Requirements:

Please have your school counselor or community caseworker sign and return the completed application form to email address: info@gownsforgrads.org or they may fax the form to (253) 856-9210.  FAQs

  • Attending online school is fine. You can still qualify for our program as long as you meet criteria and your school is in a district in South King County.

  • Sometimes forms can get misplaced or lost in the shuffle. If you submitted your application and have not heard from us in 5 business days, please give us a call

  • Yes, we will purchase a cap and gown just for you. You may keep it, as a keepsake, or donate it back.

  • Unfortunately, we do not have a way to reimburse for caps and gowns that have already been purchased.

  • No problem. If you qualify, and already have some items, we can order the other items that you need.

  • We have limited ability to help correct orders. Please make sure to provide the correct measurements when you are ready to order. Once the order is complete, we will provide you with your order number. You will need to follow up with Jostens directly to resolve any order issues.

  • Yearbook orders vary from school to school. We will need your school’s name and the contact information for the person in charge of yearbook orders.

  • Some schools offer a graduation event, called grad night. This is a fun event designed to offer a safe way to celebrate your achievements and usually lasts all night and into the next morning.

  • No but there may be other agencies that we can refer you to like the Ruby Room in Renton Ruby Room (rubyroomseattle.org) or Ali’s Prom Project Home | Ali's Prom Project | Tacoma, Washington (alispromproject.org).

  • We will take it and either reuse or repurpose it.

  • Our Fiscal Sponsor is New Connections of South King County, which is a 501c3 organization. Gifts to Gowns For Grads qualify for tax deductions per IRS rules.

  • Yes, we have different events throughout the year and appreciate help.
